In many cases of severe tooth decay or dental trauma which impacts the root of a tooth, the dental restoration at Periodontal and Implant Esthetics can apply root canal therapy. Frequently known as a root canal, this removes any tissues or tooth enamel before bringing back any internal structures.

In rare instances, however, the infection might affect the tooth so severely that a root canal won’t treat it effectively. In a situation such as this, Dr. Gustavo Ruiz will extract the tooth. Once your gums have healed, we will be able to restore the tooth with a dental implant.

The process begins with Dr. Gustavo Ruiz taking X-rays of the area. Sometimes tooth loss may also mean that the integrity of the underlying bone tissues is lost. If this is the case, we may suggest a bone graft or another procedure to restore the right structure to anchor a dental implant.

When it’s time for the ultimate restoration procedure, Periodontal and Implant Esthetics will make a careful incision into your gums. A narrow channel will then be drilled into the underlying bone. A titanium implant will then be screwed into the bone and your gums stitched up.

Titanium has a special property which allows it to fuse to living bone tissue. In time, this may offer your dental implant the same strength as the original tooth.
